Knowtex, which bills itself as the first frontier artificial intelligence lab focused on healthcare, has been selected as one of two prime awardees on a $775.72 million multiple-award indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs for ambient scribe technology.
The contract is designed to expand AI-assisted clinical documentation across the VA system, with the goal of reducing administrative burdens on healthcare providers and freeing up more time for direct patient care. Ambient scribe tools automatically capture and transcribe clinical conversations, eliminating much of the manual note-taking that has long strained physician capacity.

Knowtex says its technology is already operational at 79 VA medical centers and more than 310 VA facilities nationwide, with more than 7,000 VA clinicians currently using the platform. The scale of the existing deployment positions the company as a significant incumbent as the broader contract rolls out across the VA enterprise.
The nine-figure IDIQ structure means the full contract value will be allocated through individual task orders over time, with Knowtex competing alongside the other prime awardee for specific delivery orders. The VA's investment signals a continued institutional push to integrate AI tools into federal healthcare delivery, particularly in support of the veteran patient population.
